Popular for its country music, Tennessee is becoming an increasingly popular place to earn an advanced education. The University of Tennessee system, which is governed by the Tennessee Higher Education Commission, is the states only public school system. The public school system is comprised of four-year universities, community colleges and plenty of trade schools, which are all located throughout Tennessee. Private colleges also make their home in the state, the largest being Vanderbilt University, which enrolls approximately 12,000 students. Web based learning is another advantage of Tennessee’s academic institutions (both public and private), as the virtual classroom environments afford people the opportunity to pursue their scholastic goals without cramping their already tight schedules.
